The Great Outdoors

With the last of summer on our doorsteps, we've taken the advice of Khalil Gibran, quite literally and been inspired to spend more time outside...... barefoot and fancy free!

Summer evenings with their gentle breezes play beautifully with lit candles as do the green lawns of backyards and parks, offering a perfect carpet for picnic's dates and book-club rendezvous.

Getting caught up in the busyness of day-to-day of life can often leave us waiting for the weekend to enjoy life. This February, we've celebrated the outdoors and looked for ways to update, refresh or perhaps even create an outdoor space for the very first time.

Here are 3 suggestions to help you achieve a beautiful outdoor room. Don't wait for the weekend to spoil yourself; start today.

Go Green!

Cluster pots of various sizes in similar tones, with greenery of different heights to create an instant visual feast. It will not only will it look lush, but create a cool oasis. If you're not blessed to have green thumbs, invest in some good quality faux-greenery.

Contact us for our selection of quality faux topiaries.

Choose Comfort

More often we see outdoor rooms that look good enough to be inside! And why not, with our climate being so adaptable, we should seek to bring the indoors out. Comfort is key to really enjoying your outdoor space. Favour sturdy, weather proof tables, chairs and sofas and incorporate layers of comfort. Double up on cushions to add softness and encourage lengthy stays. Kick off your shoes and consider the comfort of an outdoor rug to inject colour, texture and pattern.

Accessorise

When it comes to creating a comfortable and stylish space, accessorizing with collected items makes a room look pulled together. Think of this space as you would your living room and choose pieces that add character and are functional. Coffee table must-haves include: trays for food and drinks, potted plants and stacks of magazines. Ceramic stools are a great addition and can be used as side tables and extra seating. Mirrors (arched being our favourite) create dimension and reflect a beautiful view; which could be a blossoming tree or classic water feature. Final touches such as lanterns, hurricanes and fairy lights strewn through your greenery are a perfect way to translate day into night.

With only a few weeks of Summer, how will you enjoy your outdoor space? Create, add or host a fabulous soiree? Whatever it may be, we hope you will kick off your shoes and let the breeze dance with your hair.

Here's to a beautiful home!
