Table & Chair Combinations we love

We wrote a similar post on this topic last year, you can read it here. But thought it would be useful to address our most common question.

 "What dining chair would you suggest for this table?"

Finding the right table and chair combination can be a daunting experience, especially when you like a few different styles. Walking into a showroom with so many options can feel overwhelming. Where do you start?

Let's take the guess work out and get this right. We've put together a simple guide to help navigate this decision with ease. Everything from coastal to traditional, modern farmhouse to transitional styles; find the right fit for your home and style of decorating.

Coastal: Our Australian lifestyle lends itself effortlessly to light and airy spaces, breezy and uncluttered styles of decorating. Light coloured timbers with easy care materials are often an easy go-to option. Coastal styles range from Classic to Modern styles, however lately we’ve been loving the new twist on traditional coastal styles. We're calling it, New Coastal.

What is New Coastal style? Move over white-wash. No more distressed painted finishes. Say good bye to common nautical themes and say hello to refined shapes, tailored silhouettes and controlled colour palette. New Coastal is an updated version of classic coastal. See some examples of New Costal styles of decorating below;

Hamptons: Ask anyone their idea of Hampton’s style decorating, and you’ll get a different answer every time. Style is so subjective, so it’s difficult to pin-point the exact style references for everyone. Over the years, we've seen Hampton’s style evolves and true aficionado’s will still categorise this style as classic traditional American style. However, in Australia we've adapted this style to a more coastal Hamptons style, which is quite different. Looking at two categories: Traditional & Costal styles you can find the right fit for you. See our favourite combinations here.

These two examples give a visual representation of the two versions of Hamptons style.

Farmhouse: There's something so comforting and welcoming about country style. Whether you live on a farm in the country or suburbia, Farmhouse style has become a popular choice thanks to Chip & Joanna Gaines. Think time worn timbers, earthy colours mixed in with vintage textiles, shiplap but organised in a modern way. Black accents also feature in this style of decorating. Creating a dining space that is welcoming and comfortable can be a stressful experience, so we hope our guide has given you greater clarity on your style and which pieces work well together.
