The amazing thing about decorating with antiques is that they instantly add history and soul to a home. Antiques work with all décor styles; making a home unique, personal and interesting. There's something special about owning a piece of history; having something that was made and used in a time before you existed.
There are a few simple tips to consider when decorating with antiques to help keep your home looking fresh and collected.
1) Less is more.
Favour a substantial piece or worthy collection, such as glass cloches, vintage frames, or candlesticks.
2) Substance.
Choose substantial pieces that can transition well into any room and be used for multiple purposes. This will allow you to mix and match different pieces as your home style evolves. 3) Vingette's
Create meaningful vignette's throughout your home with the addition of a few key antique pieces. Recently, I've been working with a lovely client to find some new pieces for her vast historic home. With new renovations under way, it is important to maintain a sense of integrity while infusing her personal modern country aesthetic throughout.
