Lydon Project Reveal : Modern Farmhouse - Part 2

by Crystal Lazaroo

Welcome back to our #Lydonroad Project Reveal: Part 2! Today, we're exploring the updates in the kitchen, playroom, laundry, and the boys' bedroom! In case you missed Part One, catch up here

Kitchen Updates

Our task here was simple: to update the cabinetry hardware and specify window treatments for the previously renovated kitchen. With plenty of natural light and beautiful bush views beyond, we chose practical woven blinds for an organic element in this white kitchen. We paired our Jasper timber stools to echo and balance the warmth of the blinds in the space. These changes totally transformed the kitchen to a welcoming Modern Farmhouse style, aligning with the client's vision.

Playroom & Laundry Updates
Landing on a beautiful green paint by Porters Paints for the shiplap wainscoting to further enhance the farmhouse aesthetic and complement the existing laundry selections. Using the same textured blinds from the kitchen in the playroom and laundry creates a cohesive feel throughout the home. Paint and window treatment updates, have significantly transformed the spaces and both the client and the team are very pleased with the results. Take a look below.

Boy's Bedroom
This space was so fun to design. From selecting paint options to each thoughtful detail, we're so happy with how everything came together in this compact space.
With three brothers sharing this bedroom, bunk beds were essential: a single wrought iron bed on one side and timber bunks on the other, both chosen for their timeless style and contrast in materials to help achieve a balanced space while keeping things interesting.
Involving the boys in the design process was key; they picked a deep navy from Porters Paints and artwork themselves, making their bedroom personal to them. We added practical drop zones through a vintage trunk for additional storage and hooks strategically placed for clothing.
New low-maintenance carpet in a neutral colour helps to brighten the small footprint and bring balance to the colour drenched walls. We added a custom flat weave rug in a simple plaid pattern which helps to break up the neutral carpet and help connect the two zones. Block-out linen curtains by Pottery Barn completes the space, bringing softness to large windows. Industrial accents such as the bed frame, lamp and wall sconces add to the Farmhouse feel.
When we revealed this space to the boys, they were so excited about the lighting choices, allowing them to enjoy late-night reading sessions in bed. It really is the little things which make such an impact to their world.

"Now that our project is complete, we feel a sense of pride and joy in our home that we didn’t have before. The living room has become the heart of our home, where we love to gather as a family, and the boys’ bedroom is now a fun and organized space that they truly enjoy.
